I took this picture during the first Edition of the Ironman 70.3 Lanzarote and it always reminds me a pleasant anecdote.
48 hours before the race start, I was driving back home from a shooting in Lleida, way to Valencia. I was not going to cover the race and I expected some days of relax. Nevertheless, a command changed everything… the English magazine 220 Triathlon ordered me a report around Bella and Stephen Bayliss, on the same week-end in Lanzarote.
Automatically, straight away on the road I had to begin with the most difficult task: to find a flight with such a short delay.
Once I resolved this first issue, I reached the island at the middle of the night, only 6 hours before the start of the race. When the swimming segment finished, and without having been able to recon the bike loop the day before, I jump on the motobike with the idea of finding the volcanic rock so famous in this fantastic island.
With a mix of joy and surprise, having a quick look from the motobike, I finally discovered this green landscape out of the blue, never seen until then in Lanzarote.
